As we have transitioned to WFH virtual meetings seem to have boomed. However, most people are spending too much time in meetings and employees can’t do back-to-back phone or online meetings all day long.
If your office has a meeting-heavy culture normally, consider scaling back the total number of meetings and the length of your meetings. When you get invited to a meeting, question whether you need to attend.
With online and phone meetings it is important to have some rules (whether formal or self-imposed) to ensure that meetings are productive such as only inviting necessary attendees and circulating and sticking to an agenda, questioning whether a meeting is actually required.
These are probably things you aspire to do anyway, but in the current situation, it is even more important. Meetings should be treated as a tool for keeping in touch and getting things done.
