Where to find ideas for your Hometown Tourist Notebook

While you may be disappointed that you can’t go out and about and live your life like normal at the moment. You can still use the list prompts in your Hometown Tourist Notebook as inspiration for researching things to do either now, or in the future when life goes back to “normal” (whatever that may be).

I like to have my Hometown Tourist Notebook on my desk so that I can add ideas to it when inspiration strikes. There are three main sources of inspiration:

Social media and Websites

I’ve been including online shows and exhibitions to replace the physical ones. I have found that social media accounts and websites of places I would usually visit have been offering online and alternative activities that you can do from home. They have also announced interesting upcoming events and activities for dates. All of these have been going into my notebook.

Existing Knowledge

For other lists such as pubs to visit etc. I’ve been writing lists of place I want to visit when they reopen (and independent businesses that I want to support). Some of these lists feature places that I am missing and classic favourites, others feature places that i am never visited before but want to try.

Recommendations of others

Finally look out for recommendation from colleagues, friends and family. In the last month or so I have found that people are keen to share tips and recommendations, and I am keeping a list of these as well.
